Welcome to my new blog, which I really should have titled "To Quilt and Back Again."
I keep telling everyone that I'm a beginning quilter, but that's not exactly true. You see, I can remember sitting under my grandmother's table, listening to her, my mom, my aunt, and my great-aunt gossip while they worked diligently on a quilt mounted on the frame that suspended from the ceiling.
Fast forward years and years later and I watched my mom begin quilting again, primarily working on applique designs that had been in the family for years. Before long, however, she started using more modern techniques, reading every quilting magazine that she came across, and finally even joining a guild. One summer though, I found myself sitting at the machine, chain-stitching the blocks she was meticulously cutting for a fund-raising project. As that quilt came together, I found myself in love... with the feel of the fabric, the hum of the sewing machine, the smell of the clean, freshly ironed pieces, and the
